Hindu Mythology behind Surabhi Mudra
Rishi Vishwamitra originally a king aspired to attain the status of Brahma Rishi (a sage among the God) to achieve this he sought the divine Kamdhenu the wish-fulfilling cow owned by Vashishat Muni renowned as one of the greatest sages. Recognizing the immense value of Kamdhenu, Rishi Vishwamitra approached Vashishat Muni requesting him as a boon. However, Vashishat Muni aware of the potential misuse of Kamdhenu’s power denied Rishi’s request which ignited a conflict between the two sages.
This connection between Surabhi Mudra and this story lies in the symbolic representation of Surabhi or Kamdhenu as a divine cow embodying abundance and fulfilment. Surabhi Mudra performed by bringing the hands together in reverence and gratitude reflects the blessings of Kamdhenu.

Method:
Step 1.: Select the calm and clean place where fresh air running around you.
Step 2.: Sit on your Yoga mate in a comfortable pose like “Sukhasana” “Siddhasana” or “Padmasana”
Step 3.: Bring your hands to chest level and do namaste mudra while hands are separated.
Step 4.: Keep your eyes closed and do deep breathing three times, be relaxed.
Step 5.: Bring the ring finger of the left hand towards the little finger of the right hand, and then take your right little finger over this to touch the little finger of the left hand.
Step 6.: Move your left index finger of your left hand to touch the tip of the right middle finger and taking over this, move your left middle finger to touch the right index finger.
Step 7.: Adjust the fingers up or down to touch each other properly.
Step 8.: Keep both thumbs spread apart pointing toward the heart and this whole arrangement of fingers pointing up towards the sky.
Step 9.: Focus on your breathing (Inhaling and exhaling) and witness your entire mind and body.
Step 10.: Slight smile on your face, witness the Jal Tattva.
Step 11.: Sit meditatively, and observe the dark space behind your eyes.
Note:
- Focus on Manipur Chakra (Solar Plexus) while performing the Surabhi Mudra.
- Do not press your all fingers with each other, keep it in relaxed mode
- Thumbs should not touch any finger, they should be separated.
- Nowadays people perform Hasta Mudra while walking, standing or sitting in front of the television to get more benefits of Varun Mudra use it with Meditative Pose or with Pranayama.

5 to 15 minutes daily.
