As we know, our body gets power from the food we intake, the same way our body requires certain water levels to regulate blood flow throughout our body. When performing Varun Mudra we use the last finger and thumb, the last finger represents the water element and the thumb represents the fire element.

The Varun Mudra increases the water level, therefore it is also known as “Jal Vardhak Mudra” – “Jal” means water “Vardhak” means to improve and “Mudra” means a gesture of the hand. What are Mudras? How do they work?

The science of Varun Mudra

The Varun Mudra is a Powerful gesture using the Last finger and thumb simultaneously. The Last finger represents “Jal Tattva” (water element) and the Thumb represents “Agni Tattva” (fire element) when performing the Varun Mudra, you get peace of mind, and you become cool and calm.

Water is also used as a symbol of freedom & fluidity because of its floating nature it starts flowing till it finds a stable place thus performing the Varun Mudra with specific Yoga Asana or with Pranayama brings mental stability to a person hence it is also called “Seal of Mental Clarity” the “Gesture of Mental Purity”

Method:

Step 1.: Select a calm and clean place where fresh air running around you.

Step 2.: Sit on your Yoga mate in a comfortable pose like “Sukhasana” “Siddhasana” or “Padmasana”

Step 3.: Keep your both hands on your knees

Step 4.: Keep your eyes closed and do deep breathing three times, be relaxed.

Step 5.: First, open your palm then bend only your Last finger in such a way the tip of the last finger touches the tip of your thumb.

Step 6.: Touch your thumb to the tip of your little finger naturally.

Step 7.: Other fingers will remain open and straight.

Step 7.: Keep your breathing pattern normal, do not increase or decrease your breath.

Step 9.: Focus on your breathing (How Inhaling and exhaling) witness your entire mind and body.

Step 10.: Slight smile on your face and witness the Jal Tattva.

Step 11.: Sit in a meditative pose, and observe the dark space behind your eyes.
